Casa Gitano offers 32 suites in total, a few with ocean views, others tucked away in the garden area right behind it. But no matter which one you choose, it’s never more than a one-minute stroll before your feet touch the crystal-clear water of the ocean. For those seeking something extra, there are also 3 oceanfront villas that come with their own private pool. Each room is styled in a traditional Tulum-inspired, minimal aesthetic and includes a seating area, desk, mini fridge, coffee machine and a small terrace which is perfect for unwinding after a beach-filled day. As a guest, you’ll also have access to one of the private beach beds reserved for Casa Gitano, located on the quiet right side of the bay.

One of the best things about staying at Casa Gitano is that you don’t have the leave the property if you don’t want to. They have a laid-back beachfront restaurant that serves delicious fresh food and drinks all day long. There’s often also a live DJ playing right in front, and every now and then they host (evening) events, so it’s worth checking their calendar or ask the reception. If you’re in the mood to fully unwind, you can also book a relaxing massage right on the property.

We had an incredible stay at Casa Gitano and want to compliment the kind and helpful staff who made us feel right at home. The hotel is tucked away at the quiet end of South Tulum Beach, which makes it a peaceful spot to unwind but just know that it’s a bit of a walk to most of the popular bars and restaurants, so renting a bike or scooter is definitely a good idea since the taxi’s are very expensive. Like much of the coast, the beach can sometimes get hit with sargassum, but the on-site team does their best to clear it daily. In the end, it’s all part nature and it’s better to embrace it than to let it ruin your stay.
