Van Oys

Van Oys has 81 perfectly appointed rooms and suites spread across three buildings, Remise, Château, and Carré. We were staying in a corner suite in the château. The room featured dark wood herringbone floors, framed walls, and elegant traditional style furniture. One striking detail was the exposed walls and bricks that highlight the historic character of this building. From our large windows we looked out over the gardens and the green surroundings of the area.

Besides all the beautiful public spaces and the large garden around the property, the hotel also has two restaurants. Create, by Dutch Michelin star chef Guido Braeken, and Maes, Cuisine du Terroir. We had the opportunity to dine at Maes where we were served a delicious five course menu. Every dish was beautifully plated, crafted with seasonal local ingredients, and created with a sustainability philosophy in mind. If you are into fine dining you absolutely will not regret dining here. After dinner we ended our evening with some drinks in the cozy wine bar located right next to the restaurant.

Beyond the hotel, Limburg is a beautiful destination to explore. Within minutes from the hotel you can cycle or hike through vineyards, forests, and hills that feel far removed from the rest of the country. The landscape consists of charming villages, chapels, and watermills, making it easy to turn a day outside into a picturesque adventure. Maastricht, which is only a 15-minute drive away, is a city full of character with cobbled streets, Gothic churches, lively squares, cute cafés and elegant boutique shops where you can spend a full day exploring.

Van Oys is a destination in itself, and combined with the charm of Maastricht and the beauty of Limburg, it becomes the perfect escape where you can relax and enjoy high-quality cuisine.
